Lock edge wood shaper cutter head w/ bearing
This lock-edge cutter head has the following specs:
- 1 1/4" bore (most 5+ h.p. shapers)
- 3 1/2" diameter (larger diameter = smoother milling, less tearout)
- Integrated roller bearing for template work
- Clockwise rotation for bearing work, either direction for straight runs
For those who have used them, lock-edge cutters represent the most versatile tooling that can be used on the shaper. The lock-edge system has the advantages of both bevel-edge and corrugated knives (infinite adjustment and mechanical gripping of the knife stock). Unfortunately, very few tool steel manufacturers still offer lock-edge cutter heads and those who do (like CGG Schmidt) only offer them by special request. However, most of these tool steel manufacturers will still grind all of their profiles in lock-edge knife stock. Thus, this useful and hard-to-get item is a great find.
