HEAVY DUTY SINGER 717 SEWING MACHINE
Singer Model #717 GraduateIN VERY NICE CONDITION
Heavy Duty Singer Model 717 Graduate, Serial Number: AT512063, built in 1973 in Elizabeth, New Jersey. 700 Series: Slant Shank, Rotary Hook, Class 66 Bobbin, 15x1 Needle. The 717 Graduate is a Heavy Duty unit built for and utilized by schools and universities. It is known as the Singer Student Model. Built very tough, compared to today's machines, to take whatever a student may throw it's way. A few of it's differences include: Heavy duty 3 prong grounded cords required by schools and universities for safety, Class 66 bobbins(for ease of use) instead of the normal Touch and Sew bobbin system used during this era, Steel toothed feed dogs, and set screws to lock the pattern selector in place if desired. Machine shows very nicely with average wear and tear for a machine of this age (moderate deck and flywheel scratching, a few paint chips, set of initials, and a couple magic marker marks), but this in no way detracts from it's legendary sewing abilities. Machine has been cleaned and oiled with Authentic Singer Machine Lube and has had the timing checked and is perfect. 6 - 20 stitches per inch, with Reverse and ZigZag. Full Rotary Hook system. Nice cords and original foot controller. Direct gear drive, no slipping or belts to change. Left, center, and right needle positioning. World famous Singer Drop In Bobbin System. I am including a very nice copy of a Singer 714 Graduate owners manual (very close to the 717). This will guide you through the process of threading the upper needle thread as well as filling the bobbin and selecting the right needle and tension settings for the job at hand. It really makes sewing like a pro easy. Most importantly, it will show you exactly how to lube, disassemble, reassemble, and maintain your machine so that it will last another 35 years. This machine is 100% ready to go, right out of the box. Everything needed to sew, including needle and thread, and the samples shown, will be included in the package. As an added bonus, included will be, (4) Singer Class 66 Bobbins, (1) Complete Singer 717 Attachment Set in it's original box, (1) Singer 714 Graduate Owners Manual, (1) New Bottle of Singer Sewing Machine Oil, and all other pictured accessories.

Here is a sample of some Upholstery Cording I did on this machine. One hour on this machine and you will be doing these like a Pro too. It's fairly easy. First, you take a small strip of your Material and wrap it around a stretch of cording rope, and sew it tight with the included Special Zipper/Cording foot. Then, blanket that in two more layers of your Material and sew it tight against the Cord once more. Then trim your excess, and you should have a nicely corded piece. With this machine and the included attachments, you will be able to do your own Upholstery work like a Pro with just a few hours of practice.
