OTHER GREAT PIN USES: These new steel pins can also be used for pinning plants or tying plants to each other or to a support stick, as corsage pins, as message board / bulletin board pins, as map pins, to pin items to clothes or furniture, as curtain pins / drape pins, as small hangers (e.g. for keys, chains, necklaces, watches, rings, bracelets, other jewelry), as forensic investigation pins (CSI), and for countless other crafts/decorations, hobby, household, shop, laboratory, model-building, robotics, automotive, sewing, fishing and hunting uses. The 18-gauge pin wire is strong and stiff for many of these pin uses (other similar pins are made of much softer wire and thus not effective for most pin uses), yet can be bent with a pair of pliers, and is therefore very useful for securely tying down or bundling small things, and for securing nuts, bolts, small axles and other small hardware with wire, clip and small cotter pin holes in them. The pins can be used to temporarily mend, hang, attach or secure something until you can reach a place where you make a proper repair. The pins are also great for poking starter holes and feed holes into materials (e.g. cloth, leather, canvas, tarp, plastic sheeting, thin wood paneling, etc.), cleaning out small nozzles, picking out small holes or small areas that are embedded in paint, dirt, etc. (e.g. painted over screw heads), as a sculpturing tool, as a ceramics tool, cleaning up fossils and valuable rocks, scratching things, etc. A little shrink tubing or rubber hose placed over the wavy area turns it into a small handle which makes it easier to hold and apply force for long, detailed, repetitive or higher pressure work, and minimizes slippage. Pins can also be cut off at the top with a pair of wire cutters and inserted into dowel rod to serve as a handle to make even better picking tools.
I keep about a dozen of these pins in spare secure-cap medicine bottles in various work areas around our home, shop, laboratory, business and trip box just because they are so incredibly useful in many ways. CAUTION: These pins are pointed at their ends, so please keep them out of reach of children and pets, and take care in using and storing them as you would do with any sharp object.
