Set of 4 central micrometers w/ 1 missing - 1-2/3-4/4-5

These 2 boxes are missing one of the micrometers and all of the straight reference rods (?). But there's an "extra" micrometer with a pointed tip instead of a flat tip. How? Why? I have no clue, it's just one of those things that would sometimes happen in the hustle of a busy car repair shop.
I am not a machinist and know virtually nothing about micrometers, although I can use and read them. The "locks" work, I don't know what the extra extension is for on the back end of the knurled grips, and one has some rust that I didn't clean off because I don't want to be deceptive.
* Flat end on measuring shaft -
* 0.3" - 1.3" (don't ask me!)
* The micrometers weigh a total of 3# and the cases weight 2.5#
PS - I think the photographs should give additional details.

Virtually everything I am selling belongs to me or my immediate family. Generally I know it's full history and any defects which I describe above (unless I've forgotten). I've done a lot of acquiring and hoarding over the years but I've finally stopped, a happy change for my wife. Now it's time to divest. HELP ME!
Email - I usually check it several times a day and I am usually pretty quick to reply.

the case, with one mic. that doesn't fit
The only words I could find on the cases were Central
ADDITIONAL INFO - I just found another set of micrometers from the same manufacturer. I can now say the "Central" refers to "Central Tool Company" in Rhode Island. The other set is complete and is (I'm pretty sure) for inside measurement. Here's the link if you're interested -
or search for "Inside Central Micrometers"
