The Model HP-360 hand probe provides a sensitive beta detector, featuring a "pancake" GM tube with a thin mica widow.
It features a stylish plastic housing. This black housing is constructed from rugged ABS plastic and features an etched stainless steel screen [79% open area] over the GM tube to prevent punctures. The HP-360 design is also very ergonomic to fit in one's hand with greater comfort.
This detector permits useful beta sensitivities down to 40 keV and is alpha sensitive above 3 MeV. The background sensitivity to Cs-137 is approximately 3,600 cpm/mr/hr and is capable of seeing low energy photons down to 10 keV per manufacturer literature.
The HP-360 is designed for contamination surveys on personnel, table tops, floors, equipment, etc.
Mica window thickness: 1.4 to 2.0 mg/cm^2
Beta Efficiencies: Cs-137: 22%

These units could be used for demanding, high-sensitivity surveys at operating nuclear facilities or at decontamination and decommissioning proojects [D&D projects]. In addition these units have potential application for First Responders, homeland security, guarding borders and seaports, counter-terrorism operations, security at points of access control such as airports to detect radioactive materials or contamination, or in response to nuclear incidents.
This unit is discounted substantially from its new price and guaranteed to be in good working condition.
