This is a Wavetek Model 164 30MHz Sweep Generator, S/N 266811. Because of its versatility and intuitive ease-of-use, the 164 is one of Wavetek’s most successful all-analog products. Signal generator circuitry is mainly constructed from discrete transistors; no hard-to-find modular components or specialized integrated circuits.
Front panel controls are readily accessible and functionality clearly identified with a frequency range spanning twelve decades from 30uHz (9.2 hours per cycle) to 30MHz. If you haven’t used this generator for a month or two, the re-learning curve is very short. In the work environment, the Wavetek 164 is the favored signal generator for the non-electronic scientist preferring a user-friendly signal source for performing lab experiments.
Waveform choices include sine, square, triangle, trapezoidal pulse; each with variable amplitude, DC offset, symmetry/duty cycle, sweep and sync output. A trapezoidal waveform can be created with varying rise and fall times, slope control, invert and non-invert signal, width and symmetry with external single event trigger input capability.
Output source impedance is 50 ohms with a maximum signal output level of (1) 20Vp-p open circuit or (2) 10Vp-p (into a 50 ohm load). Output signal is short-circuit protected. Maximum signal attenuation is -80dB.
This recently tested Wavetek 164 is fully functional. Over the past ten years this signal generator was used on occasion; never experienced any operational problems. Overall physical condition is very good. Reason I’m selling this 164 is because I’m reducing my personal test equipment inventory of several Wavetek 164’s.
